Xiaomi Mi 4i
Xiaomi led by Hugo Barra has created another smart-phone called Xiaomi Mi 4i which will be available in five bright colours including white, black, light blue, orange, and pink. The Mi 4i will be made available in its first flash sale from 30 April through Flipkart for the time being. In general, the Mi 4i is a low-cost version of Xiaomi Mi 4 and will be sold in markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and India. Although the Mi 4i shares a lot of elements from its predecessor, it is different than the Mi 4 due to the improvements which include a better operating system, lighter body, and a larger battery, among other improvements.
Design and Built
The new Mi 4i features a polycarbonate plastic build which is non removable and provides smooth rounded corners and edges. The polycarbonate body is available in blue, white and yellow. The Mi 4i has also come with a soft touch matte finish with an anti-grease coating which claims by Xiaomi can even erase the stains of permanent marker. On the right side of the phone, there is a volume and power or standby button while on the left contains dual SIM tray.
The Mi 4i is width at 7.8mm and weighs at 130g which is lighter and thinner than the Mi 4. The 5-inch display is comfortable to hold as it been supported with thin bezel on the top and bottom. Moreover, the use of One Glass Solution on the display helps to keep the slim factor under check
The Mi 4i sports a 5-inch full high-definition display featuring 1080×1920 pixels which gives it a 441 ppi pixel density while fully laminated by OGS Corning Concore IPS display. The phone also comes with a Sharp/JDI panel making the text look sharp while colours look quite vibrant. The features of the Sunlight Viewing technology help to optimize the tones to get a balanced display for visibility under direct bright light.
Chipset, RAM, OS
Xiaomi Mi 4i is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC processor paired with an Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. Apart from that, the phone also comes with 4 ‘performance cores’ Cortex A53 clocked at 1.7GHz and another 4 ‘power-saving’ processor clocked at 1.1GHz. Although there are some issues related with the Snapdragon which tend to get hot, Xiaomi claims that Snapdragon 615 is the second production generation of Qualcomm’s midrange processor and thus heat is not an issue.
The Mi 4i is the first Xiaomi device to run Android 5.0 Lollipop with the MIUI 6 skin on top making it more in tune with the times. The operating systems includes wide range of features such as Visual IVR where it simplifying in the interaction with IVR menus in a visual style.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i bears 16GB of inbuilt storage of which 11GB is available to the user. However, there is no expansion slot to add in a micro-SD card but there are talks of coming out with a 64GB of inbuilt storage soon.
The Mi 4i is a dual-SIM with dual standby mode smart-phone which supports 4G LTE SIM cards in both the slots for connectivity. The phone also features Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and GPS/GLONASS.
The Mi 4i is packs in a beefy 3,120 mAh battery which is Xiaomi’s highest capacity battery on a 5-inch device that can be use for over a day and a half on regular usage. The battery can be charges up to 40 percent in 1 hour and 100 percent in 3 hours supported by the phone’s Quick Charge feature.
Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with 13-megapixel rear camera Sony sensor with 5 element f/2.0 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. On the front there is a 5-megapixel f/1.8 lens with a bevy of software features including the “beautify” mode. The company also offers a suite of Xiaomi enhancement to the HDR mode, with enhance alignment, gamma and contrast tuning, colour correction, halo suppression and more.
Xiaomi Mi 4i is one of the great mid-range smart-phone for those budget-minded at a very affordable price. It has all the right specifications and impressive features that none of the rivals are able to match which would ensure that their legacy to be continues. The price for Xiaomi Mi 4i in Singapore has been released. This device will be available for as low as S$ 279.
